“We can spend our lives letting the world tell us who we are. Sane or insane. Saints or sex addicts. Heroes or victims. Letting history tell us how good or bad we are. Letting our past decide our future. Or we can decide for ourselves. And maybe it’s our job to invent something better.”
I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work in 2004. I began to work as a case manager in an inpatient addiction treatment center. I graduated in 2006 from the University of North Dakota with a Masters in Social Work with a specialization and certification as a Licensed as an Addiction Counselor and worked in the mental health field of addiction and trauma for over a decade. I ran the only Methamphetamine Treatment Center in North Dakota and worked with hundreds of clients.
My experience ranges from providing therapeutic services to individuals struggling with addiction, to children in the adoption and foster care system and their birth families, to working with homeless teenagers and coordinating services for some of the hardest circumstances in North Dakota.
In 2015, I began to work with our active duty military with combat-related injuries and PTSD in San Antonio, TX. Since moving to Texas, I have become certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy in 2017 and still hold certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapies for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment in a wide range of trauma.
Why am I a therapist
I have recently taken the leap to begin my own practice to expand the clientele that I serve. I believe that taking an offensive approach to life in healing and overcoming hardships and obstacles is not meant to be done alone.
With my knowledge and expertise, I want to reach as many people as I can to promote healing and optimal performance in day to day life for those that are seeking it.
"Tim’s knowledge and patience in working with my son has been astounding. Our family wouldn’t be on the path where we are today if it wasn’t for Tim’s intervention."
— GLORIA E.
I had the pleasure of working with Tim. He is not only humble and compassionate but also really cares about the people he serves.
